Boxes of Basics

Currently Serving State of Virgina Residents Only

We are committed to supporting National Guard families through every stage of hardship—not just financially, but with practical, immediate resources that meet real-life needs.

Through partnerships like Boxes of Basics, we are able to bridge critical gaps and ensure that children in military families have access to essential items while their families navigate challenging times.

Because when a family is waiting for help, children shouldn’t have to go without.

What is in the box?

Each Box of Basics is thoughtfully curated to meet a child’s everyday needs while restoring confidence and dignity.

Each box includes:

  • 4 school outfits
  • 4 play outfits (athletic-style clothing)
  • 1 dress-up/Sunday outfit
  • 1 pair of pajamas
  • New shoes
  • 5 new pairs of socks
  • 5 new pairs of underwear
  • A weather-appropriate coat
  • 2 age-appropriate books
  • A hygiene kit

Every outfit is individually wrapped and labeled, creating a meaningful and gift-like experience for each child.

Family Support Resources

We connect military families with trusted partners who provide essential, everyday needs for children.

Through our partnership with Boxes of Basics, eligible families can receive clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and more—helping reduce stress and restore stability during difficult periods.

Referral-Based Assistance

Our team works directly with Virgina applicants to identify additional needs beyond financial assistance.

Once a need is identified, we coordinate referrals to our partners at Boxes of Basics to ensure timely support. Each referral is carefully reviewed so that military children in need receive resources that are personalized and impactful.

Why It Matters
